The isogeometric collocated contact surface approach

Abstract We propose a frictionless contact formulation for isogeometric analysis, which combines collocated the surfaces with standard Galerkin treatment of bulk. denote it as Collocated Contact Surface (CCS) formulation. The approach is based on simple pointwise enforcement constraints, performed in this study penalty method. Unlike (node-to-surface or point-to-surface) algorithms framework, CCS passes patch test to machine precision by naturally exploiting favorable properties collocation. Compared approaches where discretization both bulk and collocation, does not need enhancements remove oscillations highly non-uniform meshes. With respect integral approaches, algorithm less computationally expensive, due reduced amount evaluation points. In addition, easy code can be added pre-existing analysis minimal effort. Numerical examples small large deformations are investigated compare some available formulations demonstrate its accuracy.
